About

Ravenworks LLC was formed by the merging of the successful businesses of two expert craftsmen, Mohamed Younes of Tilemaster and Ian Kessen of Ravenworks Design. Together, Ian and Mohamed bring over 40 years of experience in master tilework, masonry, custom cabinetry and architectural woodworking as well as General Contracting. Their skills and experience, coupled with their client- focused customer service, ensures a high degree of customer satisfaction leading to repeat business and client referrals.

Ian works with the customers to sketch and design their dreams, accounting for budgetary constraints. Mohamed takes the customer’s dream sketch and using sophisticated 3d software, creates a drawing and generates an initial estimate. Ian and Mohamed work with the customer to tailor their dream into a reality by providing one-on-one consultative service, every step of the way.

Ravenworks LLC utilizes premier, licensed electrical and plumbing contractors to fulfill their clients’ dreams, while providing management oversight to ensure that the service being performed by the contractor meets, if not exceeds, their own personal high standards and eye for perfection. Needless to say, the tilework, masonry, framing and custom architectural woodworking are performed by Ian and Mohamed, personally.

Be assured, that a call to Ravenworks LLC will be promptly answered by either Ian or Mohamed. They don’t use middlemen.

Mohamed Younes (Moe) grew up in Brooklyn, NY. Moe began his career in construction and restoration at age 21 when he entered a 3 year apprenticeship with the Tile, Marble, and Terrazzo Union. He was fortunate to be placed on the Ellis Island Restoration Project and to complete his apprenticeship under master craftsmen from all over the country and across many different trades. His apprenticeship included not only the restoration and installation of tile and marble, but also the mastery of all the “Wet Trowel Trades.” As a result, Moe was trained to restore and reproduce original brown coat and plaster walls, masonry, brickwork, and pool plastering.

After earning Journeyman status in 1990, he was given the position of foreman after only two years. He would spend over 15 years as a tile setter and foreman on some of the biggest projects in New York City. Over this period, he gathered the experience needed to manage a 50 story high-rise and developed skills in manpower allocation, materials coordination, budget tracking, and scheduling.

After getting married, Moe relocated with his wife and first child from New York City to the Netherwood section of Plainfield, NJ. Having grown up in an 1896 Victorian himself, he and his wife fell in love with the town after visiting Plainfield by chance one night. That was 2001 and they immediately put an offer on their present home. After the birth of their second child, Moe made the decision to leave construction in Manhattan and try it on his own as a local contractor.

Over the years, Moe has earned the reputation of being able to provide reliable, honest, quality work at all times. He has completed many projects in the central Jersey area (and around his Netherwood Heights home) with a special interest in working on older homes with their special character. Whether it is a re-grout of bathroom tile, the building of a new bathroom from the foundation up or adding a completely new addition, his attention to every detail is unsurpassed from the design to actual build.

Ian Kessen graduated from the Pratt Institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. This led to a career in architectural woodworking fabricating high end commercial and retail spaces in New York City. He has over 30 years of experience in site management and project supervision of interior and exterior restorations with a range of expertise from excavation through trim phase and design through installation and finishing. Ian is skilled in architectural design, drawing, fabrication and millwork of custom cabinetry, architectural wood working and built-in cabinetry as well as intricate tile work.

Ian’s proven experience in carpentry and construction skills combined with excellent communication and organizational skills has led to a commitment to superior, consultative customer service resulting in achieving his client’s dreams. It is not surprising that Ian and his wife moved from the Clinton Hills neighborhood in Brooklyn to a Victorian in Netherwood Heights in 1987.
